About Us

How did we land in the holiday let world?  It’s been a journey where we have pooled together our experience in house refurbishments, running a very successful garden room business, owning holiday homes and travelling. 

A few years ago we reached a crossroads.  We sold the garden room business and started to think about what to do next.  During our long marriage (you get less for murder) we have refurbished a number of houses. In the early days, we were stripping the wallpaper and installing baths ourselves. With plenty of disastrous stories to tell we ploughed on, learnt from our mistakes, grew in confidence & built up a small portfolio of holiday lets and buy to lets.

In the holiday let market we realised that there was a real need for local, knowledgeable property managers to take care of the home like their own. It’s one thing listing on Airbnb and outsourcing the cleaning, but having ‘boots on the ground’ is the key to successful short term let business. We put our heart and soul into our refurbs & wanted them well looked after, so we guessed that other owners would feel the same. Key Retreats became our new destination and we have been building our portfolio of managed properties since 2021.

Our love and knowledge of the East Kent coast, network of specialists and trades and our experience in property ensures that we can deliver a fabulous service to our hosts and guests. 

We are hands on with the day to day running of Key Retreats, with a small team we keep all the balls in the air and deal with the ups and downs of the holiday let world.  Teamwork is key and at the heart of Key Retreats is our partnerships with our hosts.  We work together to ensure that the houses are well-maintained and our guests have a ‘no worries, you’re welcome’ memorable experience.
